Square of Vauquelin in Montreal, National Urban Design Awards 2018

National Urban Design Awards, Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, The Canadian Institute of Planners -CIP- and the Canadian Society of the Landscape Architects -CSLA-, Ottawa, Canada
For the Square of Vauquelin, Montreal, Canada

Sitauted between the old and new city, the Place Vauquelin and the Champ-de-Mars borders the Montreal Administrative District. At this site the lighting approach reused the square lanterns – recognized by the city and the Ministry of Culture as evoking the French heritage of Old Montreal – and the historic lighting. The illumination revises the lighting of the fortications, accentuates the architecture, restores the lighting of the Dome of the Courthouse, lightens the thoroughfares, the green spaces and the pool in the middle of the space.
