Project Description
The esplanade of the Montreal Administrative District
An Iconic Outdoor Site
Situated between the old and the modern city, the “Place Vauquelin” and the “Champ-de-Mars” border the Montreal Administrative District; bear witness to the historical continuity of the landscape and architecture. The lighting approach of this project is to re-use the historic lighting and the square lantern-recognized by the city and the Ministry of Culture as evoking the French ancestry of Old Montreal. The illumination revises the lighting of the fortifications, accentuates the architecture, restores the lighting of the Dome of the Courthouse, lightens the thoroughfares, the green spaces and the pool in the middle of the space.
